Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavor 20 sachets

Dioralyte is indicated for the correction of fluid and electrolyte loss in infants, children and adults and for the treatment of watery diarrhea of various etiologies, including gastroenteritis, in all age groups. It is an oral rehydration therapy. This combination of electrolytes stimulates the absorption of water and electrolytes from the gastrointestinal tract and prevents or reverses dehydration in diarrhea.

Active substance: g/sachet - Glucose 3.56, Sodium chloride 0.47, Potassium chloride 0.3, Disodium citrate 0.53.

Dosage and method of administration:

Each sachet must always be dissolved in 200ml of water. The volume of reconstituted Dioralyte to be taken must be decided by the treating physician, taking into account the patient's weight and the condition and severity of the condition. A basic principle in treating diarrhea is to replace fluid loss and maintain sufficient fluid intake to replace your loss in stool. Daily intake should be based on a volume of 150 ml/kg bodyweight in infants and 20–40 ml/kg bodyweight in adults and children. Infants 1 to 1.5 times their usual food volume. Children 1 sachet after each diarrheal stool. Adults 1 or 2 sachets after each diarrheal stool.

Contraindications:

There are no known contraindications. However, there are some situations in which treatment is inappropriate, such as, for example, situations of intestinal obstruction requiring surgical intervention, or in case of persistent vomiting and severe dehydration or severe infantile diarrhea where intravenous therapy will be necessary.
