Ulcerase 0.6U/g Ointment 30g

Ulcerase 0.6U/g Ointment is indicated for superficial burns (1st and 2nd degree), varicose and decubitus ulcers and superficial skin wounds. Ulcerase ointment has not been tested in children, hence its use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended.

Active substance: 0.6 units of collagenase clostridiopeptidase A and accompanying enzymes.

Dosage and method of administration:

Ulcerase ointment should be applied once a day. It is possible to increase the enzymatic effect by applying the ointment 2 times a day. To succeed in enzymatic cleaning of wounds, applying Ulcerase ointment, the following facts must be taken into account: Ulcerase ointment must have uniform contact with the surface of the wound, therefore, the ointment will be applied homogeneously , in a thickness of approximately 2 millimeters. In the case of torpid necrosis, it is possible to improve the effectiveness by making incisions on the edge and in the center of the wound, thus applying part of the ointment under the necrotic tissues. A dry surface should not be desired, as the presence of moisture increases enzyme activity. For these reasons, completely dry and hard crusts should be softened first by applying a damp dressing. The necrotic material loosened when changing the dressing should be removed, using a small forceps, a spatula, probe, a curette and cleaning baths. It may be convenient to cover, with or without irrigation, the edges of the wound with zinc oxide paste or the like. In the treatment of varicose ulcer, it may be convenient, in addition to using Ulcerase ointment, a dressing with a compressive bandage and medication measures to suppress blood flow disturbances.
