Betafuse gel it is indicated for the treatment of acute superficial pyoderma in the dog, such as acute wet dermatitis ("hotspot") and intertrigo (skin fold dermatitis), caused by Gram positive bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid.

Active substances: Betamethasone (in the form of betamethasone valerate) 1mg; Fusidic acid (in the form of semi-hydrated fusidic acid) 5mg.

Betamethasone valerate is a potent synthetic corticosteroid (analogue of dexamethasone) with anti-inflammatory and anti-itchy activity when applied topically, also having mild mineralocorticoid properties.

Fusidic acid semi-hydrate has a steroidal structure, but has no steroid-like effects. It belongs to the class of antibiotics called Fusidanas.

Posology and route of administration:

Cutaneous administration. First, carefully cut the hair that covers the lesions. Then, the affected area should be thoroughly cleaned with an antiseptic washing solution before applying the gel daily. The applied amount should cover the affected area with a thin layer. Apply approximately 0.5 cm of gel length per 8 cm2 of injury, twice a day, for a minimum of 5 days. Treatment should continue for 48 hours after the injury has healed. The treatment period should not exceed 7 days. If there is no response to treatment within three days or if the injury worsens, a reassessment of the diagnosis should be made.
