Baycox is indicated for the treatment of coccidiosis in chickens and turkeys due to infections caused by several species of Eimeria:
-Hens: E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. mitis, E. necatrix, E. tenella.
-Perus: E. adenoides and E. meleagrimitis.
Active substances: Toltrazuril 25 mg.
Toltrazuril is a coccidicide from the group of triazinetriones, active against Eimeria spp. Toltrazuril induces changes in the ultrastructure of the developmental stages of coccidia. These are mainly caused by swelling of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi complex, abnormal changes in the perinuclear space and changes in cell division. Toltrazuril causes a decrease in the activity of respiratory chain enzymes in parasites.
Posology and route of administration:
For oral administration in drinking water. To ensure administration of a correct dose, determine the animals' body weight accurately.
The dose is 7 mg of toltrazuril per kg of body weight (bw) per day (= 0.28 ml of Baycox per kg bw per day).
Treatment is carried out on two consecutive days. The veterinary medicinal product must be administered continuously for 24 hours on 2 consecutive days or for a period of 8 hours per day on 2 consecutive days.
The medicated drinking water should be replaced every 24 hours. The dosage should be based on the actual and actual water intake by the birds, as it varies according to the bird species, age, health and productive fitness of the birds, and also according to the conditions of the facilities (for example, different room temperature, different lighting type).
