As an aid in the treatment of separation-related disorders in dogs.
Clomicalm is indicated as an aid in the treatment of separation-related disorders in dogs, manifested through inappropriate destruction and elimination (defecation and urination) and only associated with behavioral modification techniques.
Active substances: Clomipramine hydrochloride (available in 5, 20 and 80mg presentations)
Target species: Dogs.
Clomipramine has a broad spectrum of action by inhibiting the neuronal reabsorption of norepinephrine and serotonin (5-HT). It therefore has the properties of a tricyclic antidepressant and a serotonin reuptake inhibitor.
The efficacy and safety of Clomicalm have not been determined in dogs weighing less than 1.25 kg or less than 6 months of age.
Dosage and route of administration:
Clomicalm should be administered orally at a dose of 1-2 mg/kg body weight twice a day, to obtain a daily dose of 2-4 mg/kg. Clomicalm can be administered with or without food. In cases where no improvements are observed after 2 months, treatment with Clomicalm should be stopped.
