Atopica 50mg 30 capsules

Atopica is a medication for the treatment of chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Active substance: Cyclosporine 50mg.

Atopic dermatitis is one of the most common allergic skin diseases in dogs and is caused by allergens such as dust mites or pollen, which stimulate an exaggerated immune response in atopic dogs. The disease is chronic, recurrent and requires lifelong management.Cyclosporine selectively acts on the immune cells involved in allergic reactions. Cyclosporinereduces the inflammation and itching associated with atopic dermatitis.

Target species: Canines (dogs weighing between 7.5 and 36 kg).

Dosage and route of administration:

Oral route. The average recommended dose of ciclosporin is 5 mg/kg of body weight. For a dog weighing 7.5 to 15 kg, one capsule of the veterinary medicinal product, for a dog weighing 15 to 29 kg, two capsules of the veterinary medicinal product and for a dog weighing 29 to 36 kg, three capsules of the veterinary medicinal product. The veterinary medicinal product should initially be administered daily until significant clinical improvement is seen. This will normally be the case after 4 weeks. If no response is obtained during the first 8 weeks, treatment should be discontinued. Once the clinical symptoms of atopic dermatitis are satisfactorily controlled, the drug can then be administered on alternate days as a maintenance dose. The veterinarian should carry out periodic clinical evaluation and adjust the frequency of administration according to the clinical response obtained.
