Apoquel is a drug used to treat pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs and the clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Active substance: Oclacitinib.

Dosage and route of administration:

The recommended starting dose is 0.4 to 0.6 mg/kg of oclacitinib, administered orally twice daily for 14 days.

For maintenance therapy (after the initial 14 days), the same dose should be given (0.4 to 0.6 mg/kg) once daily.

Apoquel tablets are chewable, palatable and quickly consumed by most dogs. These tablets can be taken with or without food. The dosage table in the package leaflet indicates the number of tablets needed. The tablets can be fractionated by the existing groove in the middle.

The need for long-term maintenance therapy should be based on an individual risk-benefit assessment carried out by the responsible veterinarian.

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use in dogs under 12 months of age or under 3 kg body weight. Do not administer to dogs with evidence of immunosuppression, such as hyperadrenocorticism, or with evidence of progressive malignancy, as the active substance has not been evaluated in these cases.

As it is a veterinary drug subject to a medical prescription , we ask you to send it to the email: online @farmacianovadamaia.pt
