Active substances: Meloxicam.

Meloxicam is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) of the oxicam group, which acts by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, thus exerting anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-exudative and antipyretic effects. Reduces leukocyte infiltration into inflamed tissue. To a lesser extent, it also inhibits collagen-induced thrombocytic aggregation. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown that meloxicam inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) to a greater extent than cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1).

Target species: Canines (dogs).

Dosage and route of administration:

Initial treatment consists of a single dose of 0.2 mg meloxicam/kg body weight on the first day. Treatment should continue with once-daily oral administration (at 24-hour intervals) of a maintenance dose of 0.1 mg meloxicam/kg body weight. Each chewable tablet contains 1 mg or 2.5 mg meloxicam, which corresponds to a daily maintenance dose for a 10 kg body weight dog or a 25 kg body weight dog respectively. Each chewable tablet can be divided into two equal parts for a more precise dosage, according to the body weight of each animal. Chewable tablets can be taken with or without food, are flavored and are well accepted by most dogs.
