Milprazon is indicated for the treatment of mixed infections by tapeworms and immature and adult nematodes of the following species: Tapeworms ( Dipylidium caninum; Taenia spp. ; Echinococcus multilocularis) and Nematodes ( Ancylostoma tubaeforme and Toxocara cati). The veterinary medicinal product can be administered in the prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), if concomitant treatment against tapeworms is indicated.

Active substances: Milbemycin oxime 4 mg and Praziquantel 10 mg.

Milbemycin oxime is active against mites, against larval and adult stages of nematodes as well as against larvae of Dirofilaria immitis . The activity of milbemycin is due to its action on the neurotransmission of invertebrates, causing the death of the parasite.

Praziquantel is active against tapeworms and trematodes. It modifies the calcium permeability of the parasite membranes, causing an imbalance of the membrane structures, which leads to membrane depolarization and almost instantaneous contraction of the musculature (tetany), rapid vacuolation of the syncytial tegument and subsequent disintegration of the tegument (vacuolation) resulting in a easier expulsion of the parasite from the gastrointestinal tract or in the death of the parasite.

Target species: Cats.

Posology and route of administration:

Orally. Cats should be weighed to ensure correct dosage is determined. Minimum recommended dose: 2 mg of milbemycin oxime and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg, single dose. The veterinary medicinal product should be administered with or after food. Depending on the cat's body weight, practical doses are as follows: 0.5 to 1 kg - ½ tablet; > 1 to 2 kg - 1 tablet.
