Glucantime 300 mg/ml is a drug indicated for the treatment of canine leishmaniasis for remission of clinical signs.
Active substances: 300mg N-methylglucamine antimony.
N-methylglucamine antimoniate is an antiprotozoan and antileishmanic agent, belonging to the group of pentavalent antimonies, whose mode of action may be related to the inhibition of glycolytic enzymes of some parasites.
Target species: Dogs.
Dosage and administration route:
Route of administration: intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous. The recommended dose is 100 mg N-methylglucamine antimoniate per kg bodyweight per day (equivalent to 27 mg antimony per kg bodyweight per day, or 0.33 ml/Kg/day) for 20 to 40 days.
