Gasec 10mg 14 capsules

Gasec 10mg is indicated for the short-term symptomatic relief of heartburn, dyspepsia, indigestion, acid indigestion and hyperacidity or the prevention of these symptoms when associated with the consumption of food and drink.

Active Substances: omeprazole 10mg.

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, that is, omeprazole directly and dose-dependently inhibits the enzyme H+, K+-ATPase, which is responsible for gastric acid secretion in gastric parietal cells.

Dosage and method of administration:

The usual dose is one capsule a day. The dose can be increased to a maximum of 2 capsules per day. The period of treatment with Gasec should not exceed 2 weeks. This dosage can be repeated every 4 months. Gastro-resistant capsules should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid (ie a glass of water) before meals (ie before breakfast or dinner). The contents of the capsule must not be chewed or crushed. For patients with swallowing difficulties and for children who can drink or swallow semi-solid foods: The capsule can be opened and the contents swallowed directly with half a glass of water or after mixing the contents in a slightly acidic liquid, e.g. juice, yogurt or still water. The suspension should be taken immediately or within 30 minutes. Alternatively, these patients may open the capsule and swallow the contents with half a glass of water. The granules must not be chewed or crushed.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.
