Brufen is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of pain of mild to moderate intensity:

- Rheumatic and muscle pain; Back pains; Neuralgia, primary dysmenorrhea; Toothaches; Migraine; Mild to moderate headaches; Symptomatology associated with flu and colds; Fever (less than three days).

Active substances: 400mg ibuprofen.

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) derived from propionic acid with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects, presumably acting by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase which results in a marked reduction in prostaglandin synthesis. These properties provide relief from symptoms of inflammation, pain and fever.

Posology and method of administration:

Adults and adolescents over 12 years (≥ 40 kg): For oral and short-term use only. The dose of ibuprofen depends on the patient's age and body weight. In adults and adolescents, the maximum single daily dose of 400 mg ibuprofen should not be exceeded. More than 400 mg at a time does not provide a better analgesic effect. At least an interval of 4 hours must be left between doses. The total dose should not exceed 1200 mg ibuprofen in a 24-hour period. Adult and adolescent patients should consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen, or if Brufen is needed for more than 3 days in case of fever and 5 days in case of pain. The starting dose is 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen. If necessary, additional doses of 1 or 2 tablets equivalent (from 200 mg to 400 mg ibuprofen) can be taken up to 3 times a day 4 to 6 hours apart. If, in adolescents, this medication is needed for more than 3 days, or if the symptoms worsen, a doctor should be consulted. In order to achieve maximum effect faster Brufen should be administered on an empty stomach. In patients with a sensitive stomach it is recommended to take Brufen with food.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to a prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
