Afebryl is suitable for:

- Symptomatic treatment of the pain and fever accompanying a flu-like syndrome and upper respiratory tract infections.

- Analgesic action in the case of headaches, migraines, temporary joint and muscle pain, toothache (except before or after stomatological intervention).

Active substances: 200 mg of paracetamol, 300 mg of acetylsalicylic acid and 300 mg of ascorbic acid.

The analgesic activity of paracetamol is evidenced in moderate pain. It has no effect on spasmodic pain, nor does it show a sedative or psychodysleptic effect. The anti-inflammatory effect seems to be related to the ability of acetylsalicylic acid to inhibit cyclooxygenase and, consequently, to reduce the synthesis and release of prostaglandins. It has also been found to stabilize lysosomal membranes in vivo, preventing the release of inflammation-inducing lysosomal substances. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is involved in several cellular oxidation-reduction reactions. The presence of ascorbic acid in the formulation makes it possible to avoid a possible deficiency in vitamin C that may exist in the case of chronic inflammation or flu conditions.

Posology and method of administration:

Afebryl is given orally, the tablets should be dissolved in 1/2 glass of water with gentle agitation. Adults and children from 12 years of age: 1 tablet 1 to 4 times a day. Duration of treatment will be as short as possible and should not exceed the symptomatic period. The maximum recommended dose for adults is 6 tablets a day and no more than 2 tablets should be taken at a time. Respect an interval of 4 hours between each dose and, due to paracetamol, in cases of kidney and liver failure, the interval will be at least 8 hours. Afebryl must not be combined with other anti-inflammatory medicines.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to a prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde.
