Clotrimazole Generis 10mg/g Cream is indicated for the topical treatment of the following fungal skin infections caused by fungi susceptible to clotrimazole:

Interdigital mycoses;

Pityriasis versicolor;

Diaper dermatitis.

Active substance: clotrimazole.

Clotrimazole acts against fungi by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. Inhibition of ergosterol synthesis induces structural and functional damage to the cytoplasmic membrane. It has a broad spectrum of antimycotic action in vitro and in vivo, covering dermatophytes, yeasts, molds, etc.

Posology and method of administration:

The cream should be applied in a thin layer, rubbing lightly. To treat an area corresponding to the palm of the hand, a strip of cream (1/2 cm long) applied 2-3 times a day is usually sufficient. In diaper dermatitis, the cream should be applied to the area to be treated, in a thin layer, 2 to 3 times a day. Symptoms generally resolve after a treatment period of: Interdigital mycoses 3 - 4 weeks; Pityriasis versicolor 1 - 3 weeks; Diaper Dermatitis 1 week (after this period, treatment may continue when indicated by the doctor). To ensure a complete cure, treatment should continue, in the case of interdigital mycoses and pityriasis versicolor, for approximately two weeks after the subjective symptoms have disappeared. If symptoms worsen or persist beyond the suggested treatment time, the patient should be evaluated and alternative therapy considered.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to a prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde.
