Non-prescription medicine indicated for the relief of cough with sputum.
Flusidon Generis 0.8mg/ml Syrup is indicated as a mucolytic adjuvant in the antibacterial treatment of respiratory infections in the presence of bronchial hypersecretion.
Active Substances: bromhexine
Bromhexine works by increasing the amount of secretions while reducing their viscosity. It thus has a secretolytic and secretomotor action in the bronchial system, relieving irritating cough and facilitating expectoration.
Dosage and method of administration:
Children over 12 years: 10 ml (2 full measuring spoons), 3 times a day, up to a maximum of 60 ml (equivalent to 48 mg of bromhexine) a day. Children from 6 to 12 years: 5 ml (1 full measuring spoon) 3 times a day, up to a maximum of 20 ml (equivalent to 16 mg of bromhexine) a day. Children from 2 to 6 years: 2.5 ml (1 measuring spoon measured to the 1/2 mark), 3 times a day, up to a maximum of 10 ml (equivalent to 8 mg of bromhexine) daily. Bromhexine Generis should only be given to children under 2 years of age under medical supervision.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients suffering from gastroduodenal ulcer.
