Lidonostrum 2% Gel is indicated for superficial anesthesia and lubrication of the urethra; the nasal and pharyngeal cavities; during procto-rectoscopy; during tracheal intubation; for pain relief after circumcision in children and in the symptomatic treatment of pain related to cystitis and urethritis.

Active substances: 20mg/g lidocaine.

Lidocaine stabilizes the neuronal membrane, preventing the generation and transmission of nerve impulses, hence its local anesthetic action.

Dosage and method of administration:

Always use Lidonostrum Gel 2% exactly as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Lidonostrum Gele 2% is used for anesthesia of the mucous membranes with a duration of approximately 20 to 30 minutes and a rapid onset of action, normally up to 5 minutes. In children under 12 years of age the dose should not exceed 6 mg/kg. No more than 4 doses should be given within 24 hours. Urethral anesthesia: For adequate anesthesia of the adult male urethra, approximately 20 ml of gel (corresponding to 400 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride) is usually required. The gel is slowly instilled until the patient has a feeling of tension, which is usually about 10 ml. Then wait a few moments for adequate anesthesia, after which the remaining gel is instilled. If deeper anesthesia is required, up to a maximum of 40 ml of gel can be administered, divided into 3 to 4 applications. For surface anesthesia in the female urethra, 5 to 10 ml of gel should be instilled, in small amounts, to fill the entire urethra, waiting a few minutes before starting the procedure. Digestive endoscopy and bronchoscopy: The instillation of 10 to 20 ml is recommended and a small amount can be applied to the instrument as a lubricant. When the gel is applied in combination with other products containing lidocaine the total dose of lidocaine should not exceed 400 mg. Lubrication for Endotracheal Intubation: About 2 ml of the gel should be applied to the surface of the tube immediately prior to intubation. Care must be taken not to place the product inside the tube.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
