Libeo it is indicated for the treatment of ascites and edema, especially associated with heart failure.

Active substance (s): 40mg furosemide

Target species (s): Canines (Dogs).

Furosemide is a potent loop diuretic that increases urinary volume. Inhibits the reabsorption of electrolytes in the proximal and distal renal tubules and in the ascending Henle loop. It increases the excretion of sodium ions, chloride ions and, to a lesser extent, potassium ions, as well as the excretion of water. Furosemide has no effect on carbonic anhydrase.

Posology and route of administration:

Oral administration. From 1 to 5 mg of furosemide / kg of body weight per day, that is, from ½ tablet to 2.5 tablets of veterinary medicine for every 5 kg of body weight, administered in a single dose or divided into two daily doses. Depending on the severity of edema or ascites or in refractory cases, the daily dose may be doubled. For dogs from 2 to 7.5 and dogs from 10.1 to 15 kg of body weight, administer 10 mg Libeo tablets. For maintenance, the veterinarian must adapt the dosage to the lowest effective dose depending on the dog's clinical response to treatment. Dosage and schedule may need to be adjusted depending on the state of the animal. If the treatment is administered before bedtime, it can cause inconvenient episodes of nocturnal diuresis.

Instructions for dividing the tablet: place the product on a flat surface with the marked side facing down (and the convex side facing up). With the tip of your index finger, apply slight vertical pressure in the center of the tablet to break it in half. To obtain quarters, apply light pressure to the center of each half with your index finger. The tablets are flavored and can be mixed with a small amount of food before the main meal or can be administered directly into the animal's mouth.
