For cats with, or at risk for, mixed flea and tick infestations, lice, mites, gastrointestinal nematodes or heartworm. The veterinary medicinal product is specifically indicated when treatment against ticks and one or more of the other target parasites must be carried out at the same time.

For the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.). The veterinary medicine has immediate and persistent flea elimination activity against new infestations for 5 weeks. The veterinary medicine kills adult fleas before laying eggs for 5 weeks. Due to its ovicidal and larvicidal action, the veterinary medicine can help in controlling flea infestations in the environment to which the animal has access.

The veterinary medicinal product can be used as part of the treatment strategy for flea allergic dermatitis (DAPP).

The veterinary medicinal product has immediate and persistent acaricidal activity for 5 weeks against Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes hexagonus, and 4 weeks against Dermacentor reticulatus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus.

Prevention of heartworm caused by Dirofilaria immitis, with monthly application.

Active substances: selamectin and sarolaner.

Selamectin has ovicidal, larvicidal and adulticidal activity against fleas. Thus, it effectively breaks the life cycle of fleas, killing adult forms (in the animal), preventing the eggs from hatching (in the animal and its environment) and killing larval forms (only in the environment). The remains of the product that remain in the hair of animals treated with selamectin kill flea eggs and larvae that have not been directly exposed to selamectin and thus can help control the infestations in the environment to which the animal has access. Selamectin is active against adult fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) As well as against mites (Otodectes cynotis), lice (Felicola subrostratus) and gastrointestinal nematodes (Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma tubaeforme). Activity has also been demonstrated on microfilariae (D. immitis).

For fleas, onset of effectiveness occurs within 24 hours within 5 weeks of application.

Sarolaner is an acaricide and insecticide belonging to the isoxazoline family. Sarolaner is active against adult fleas (Ctenocephalidesspp.) As well as against several species of ticks such as Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes hexagonus, Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus.

For ticks (I. ricinus), the onset of efficacy occurs within 24 hours after fixation, within one month after application.

Posology and route of administration:

Administration by spot-on anointing.

Stronghold Plus should be administered by single spot (topical) anointing according to the following table (corresponding to a minimum of 6 mg / kg of selamectin and 1 mg / kg of sarolaner).

Topical administration to the skin at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades.
