Auricular gel indicated for the treatment of acute otitis externa and acute exacerbation of recurrent otitis externa associated with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and Malassezia pachydermatis.

Active substances: Terbinafine, Florfenicol and Betamethasone Acetate.

The veterinary medicinal product is a fixed combination of three active substances (corticosteroid, antifungal and antibiotic)

O betamethasone acetate belongs to the class of glucocorticosteroid diesters, with a strong intrinsic glucocorticoid activity, which relieves inflammation and itching, leading to an improvement in the clinical signs observed in otitis externa.

THE terbinafine it is an allylamine with pronounced antifungal activity. Selectively inhibits the initial synthesis of ergosterol, which is an essential component of the yeast and fungi membrane, including Malassezia pachydermatis (MIC90 of 2 µg / ml). Terbinafine has a different mode of action than azo antifungal agents, so there is no cross-resistance with azo antifungal agents.

O florfenicol is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that works by inhibiting protein synthesis. Its spectrum of activity includes Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (CIM90 of 8 µg / ml).

Due to the high antimicrobial concentrations reached in the ear canal and the multifactorial nature of otitis externa, in vitro susceptibility may not be directly correlated with clinical success.

Posology and route of administration:

Auricular use.

Administer a tube through an infected ear. Repeat the administration after 7 days. The complete clinical response can be achieved only 21 days after the second administration.

It is recommended to clean and dry the external ear canal before the first administration of the veterinary medicinal product. It is recommended not to repeat ear cleaning until 21 days after the second administration of the veterinary medicinal product. If treatment with this veterinary medicinal product is discontinued, the ear canals must be cleaned before starting treatment with an alternative veterinary medicinal product.

Special storage conditions: Store in a refrigerator (2 ºC - 8 ºC)

Because it is a veterinary medicinal product subject to medical prescription, we request to send it to the email: online@farmacianovadamaia.pt.
