For the treatment of otitis externa and superficial skin infections located in dogs and cats, caused by infections with the following bacteria and fungi sensitive to miconazole and polymyxin B:

- Gram-positive bacteria

  • Staphylococcus spp.
  • Streptococcus spp.

- Gram-negative bacteria

  • Pseudomonas spp.
  • Escherichia coli

- Yeasts and fungi

  • Malassezia pachydermatis
  • Candida spp.
  • Microsporum spp.
  • Trichophyton spp.

Treatment of infestations by Otodectes cynotis in case of concomitant infection with pathogens sensitive to miconazole and polymyxin.

Active substances:

Miconazole nitrate 23.0 mg (equivalent to 19.98 mg miconazole)

Prednisolone acetate 5.0 mg (equivalent to 4.48 mg prednisolone)

Polymyxin B sulfate 0.5293 mg (equivalent to 5500 IU polymyxin B sulfate)

Posology and route of administration:

Cutaneous and auricular use. Shake well before use.

At the start of treatment, the hair that surrounds or covers the lesions should be trimmed. This procedure should be repeated during treatment, if necessary.

Infections of the external auditory canal (otitis externa):

Clean the external ear canal and auricle and place 5 drops of the veterinary medicine in the external ear canal twice a day. Massage the ear and ear canal carefully to ensure even distribution of the active substances, but gently enough to avoid causing pain to the animal.

Treatment should be continued without interruption until a few days after the clinical symptoms have completely disappeared, at least for 7 to 10 days and up to 14 days.

In the presence of concomitant infestation of ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), treatment of both ears should be considered even if the infestation appears to be in only one of them. Administer 5 drops twice a day for 14 days.

Skin infections (localized superficial):

Apply a few drops of the veterinary medicine on the skin lesions to be treated twice a day and massage well.

Treatment should be continued without interruption until a few days after the clinical symptoms have completely disappeared and up to 14 days.

In some persistent cases (ear or skin infections), treatment may need to be continued for 2 to 3 weeks. In cases where it is necessary to prolong treatment, it is necessary to repeat clinical examinations, including re-evaluation of the diagnosis.
