Itrafungol 10mg/ml is a veterinary medicine that contains itraconazole, a synthetic broad-spectrum triazole antifungal with great activity against dermatophytes ( Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp.), yeasts ( Candida spp., Malassezia spp.), various dimorphic fungi, zygomycetes and eumycetes ( eg Aspergillus spp.).
Some cases of feline dermatophytosis can be difficult to treat, especially in catteries. Cats treated with itraconazole may continue to infect other cats with M. canis as long as they are not mycologically cured. Therefore, to minimize the risk of reinfection or spread of the infection, it is advisable to keep healthy animals (including dogs as they can also be infected by M. canis) separate from the cats being treated. It is highly recommended to clean and disinfect the environment with suitable fungicidal products – especially in the case of group problems.
Dosage and route of administration:
The solution is administered orally into the animal's mouth using a dosing syringe. The daily dose is 5 mg/kg body weight or 0.5 ml/kg body weight/day.
The dosage is 0.5 ml/kg of body weight/day for 3 alternating periods of 7 consecutive days, alternating each treatment period with 7 days without treatment.
