Milprazon 12.5mg/125mg 48 tablets

Milprazon is indicated for the treatment of mixed infections caused by tapeworms and adult nematodes of the following species: Tapeworms ( Dipylidium caninum; Taenia spp.; Echinococcus spp.; Mesocestoides spp.) and nematodes ( Ancylostoma caninum; Toxocara canis; Toxascaris leonina; Trichuris vulpis; Crenosoma vulpis (Reduction in the level of infection); Angiostrongylus vasorum (Reduction in the level of infection by immature (L5) and adult stages of parasites); Thelazia callipaeda ). The veterinary medicinal product can be administered to prevent heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), if concomitant treatment against cestodes is indicated.

Active substances: Milbemycin oxime 12.5 mg and Praziquantel 125.0 mg.

Milbemycin oxime is active against mites, larval and adult stages of nematodes as well as Dirofilaria immitis larvae. The activity of milbemycin is due to its action on the neurotransmission of invertebrates, causing the death of the parasite.

Praziquantel is active against cestodes and trematodes. It modifies the calcium permeability of the parasite's membranes, causing an imbalance in the membrane structures, which leads to depolarization of the membrane and almost instantaneous contraction of the muscles (tetany), rapid vacuolation of the syncytial tegument and subsequent disintegration of the tegument (vacuolation) resulting in a easier expulsion of the parasite from the gastrointestinal tract or death of the parasite.

Dosage and route of administration:

Orally. Dogs should be weighed to ensure correct dosage is determined. Minimum recommended dose: 0.5 mg of milbemycin oxime and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg, single dose. Depending on the dog's body weight, practical doses are as follows: 5 to 25 kg - 1 tablet; >25 to 50 kg - 2 tablets; >50 to 75 kg -3 tablets. The veterinary medicinal product should be administered with or after food.
