Cyclavance is a medication indicated for the treatment of chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs and symptomatic treatment of chronic allergic dermatitis in cats.

Active substance: Cyclosporine 100mg/ml

Cyclosporine (also known as cyclosporine A, CsA) is a selective immunosuppressant. Cyclosporine exerts anti-inflammatory and antipruritic activity in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.

The clinical symptoms of atopic dermatitis, such as itching and skin inflammation, are not specific to this disease. Other causes of dermatitis, such as ectoparasite infestations, other allergies that cause dermatological symptoms ( ie flea bite allergy dermatitis or food allergy), or bacterial or fungal infections should be ruled out before starting treatment. It is good practice to treat flea infestations before and during treatment of atopic dermatitis.

Target species: Dogs and cats.

Dosage and route of administration:

For oral administration. The recommended dose of cyclosporine is 5 mg/kg body weight (0.05 ml of oral solution per kg body weight) and should initially be administered daily. The frequency of administration should subsequently be reduced depending on the response. Once the clinical symptoms of atopic dermatitis are satisfactorily controlled, the veterinary medicinal product can then be administered every other day. The veterinarian should perform periodic clinical assessments and adjust the frequency of administration to the clinical response obtained. In some cases where clinical symptoms are controlled with alternate-day doses, the veterinarian may decide to administer the veterinary medicinal product every 3 or 4 days. The lowest effective frequency should be used to maintain remission of clinical symptoms.
