Nexgard Spectra Dogs 30-60 Kg 3 tablets

Nexgard Spectra is indicated for the treatment of flea and tick infestations in dogs when simultaneous prevention of heartworm disease and/or treatment of gastrointestinal nematode infestations is indicated. Treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis) in dogs for at least 5 weeks and of tick infestations (Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus) in dogs for 4 weeks. Treatment of infestations by adult gastrointestinal nematodes of the following species: roundworms (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum and Ancylostoma Braziliense) and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis). Prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis larvae), with monthly administration.

Active substances: Afoxolaner and Milbemycin oxime.

Afoxolaner is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the isoxazoline family. It is active against adult fleas as well as many species of ticks, such as: Dermacentor reticulatus and D. variabilis, Ixodes ricinus and I. scapularis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Amblyomma americanum, and Haemaphysalis longicornis. It kills fleas before they produce eggs and therefore prevents contamination of the home.

Milbemycin oxime acts on the glutamate neurotransmitters in invertebrates. Milbemycin oxime increases the binding of glutamate, resulting in an increase in the flow of chloride ions into the cell. This leads to hyperpolarization of the neuromuscular membrane, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasites.

Target species: Canines (dogs).

Dosage and route of administration:

Administer orally. The veterinary medicinal product should be administered at a dose of 2.50-5.36 mg/kg afoxolaner and 0.50-1.07 mg/kg milbemycin oxime, according to the table given in the package leaflet. For dogs over 60 kg bodyweight, administer the appropriate combination of chewable tablets. The chewable tablets are palatable to most dogs. The tablets can be administered with food if dogs do not accept them directly.
