Drontal Plus Flavor 4 tablets

Drontal Plus Flavor is indicated for the treatment of mixed infections caused by nematodes and cestodes of the following species:

Nematodes: Ascarids (adults and late immature forms): Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina. Hookworms (adults): Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum.

Tricuridae (adults): Trichuris vulpis.

Cestodes (adults and late immature forms): Echinococcus granulosus. Echinococcus multilocularis. Dipylidium caninum. Taenia spp. Mesocestoids spp.

For the treatment of infections caused by the protozoan Giardia spp., in puppies and adult dogs.

Active substances: Febantel 150 mg. Pyrantel 50 mg equivalent to 144 mg of pyrantel embonate. Praziquantel 50 mg.

In this fixed association, pyrantel and febantel act synergistically against nematodes (ascarids, hookworms and whipworms) and Giardia in dogs. Praziquantel acts against all intestinal stages of these parasites. Additionally, the activity of praziquantel against some species of Giardia spp. has been well reported in the literature. Like nicotine, pyrantel acts as a cholinergic agonist, causing spastic nematode paralysis through a depolarizing neuromuscular block. The anthelmintic and giardicidal efficacy of febantel results from its ability to inhibit the polymerization of tubulin in microtubules. The resulting structural and functional metabolic changes deplete the parasite's energy reserves, killing it within 2-3 days.

Target species: Canine (dogs).

Dosage and administration route:

Oral administration. For the treatment of dogs, 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight (15 mg febantel, 14.4 mg pyrantel embonate and 5 mg praziquantel/kg body weight). For every 5 kg of additional body weight, administer an additional half tablet.
