Gaviscon Duefet Sachets 12x10ml

Gaviscon Duefet is a combination of two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate that neutralizes excess gastric acid, relieving pain and discomfort and forming a protective layer over the contents of the stomach, calming the sensation of pain /burning in the chest.

This medicine is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux related to acidity, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn (burning) and indigestion, which can occur, for example, after meals or during pregnancy.

Active substance: Sodium alginate 500mg; Sodium bicarbonate 213mg; Calcium carbonate 325mg.

After ingestion, the medicine reacts quickly with gastric acid to form a layer of alginic acid gel with an almost neutral pH, which floats on gastric contents, effectively preventing gastroesophageal reflux. In severe cases, the gel layer itself may reflux into the esophagus instead of the gastric contents, exerting a demulcent effect.

Calcium carbonate neutralizes gastric acid, providing quick relief from indigestion and heartburn. This effect is increased by the combination of sodium bicarbonate, which also has a neutralizing action.

Dosage and method of administration:

Administration orally. Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 10-20 ml (1 to 2 sachets) after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Children under 12 years of age: Only administer under medical advice. Elderly: No dosage adjustment is necessary in this age group. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to medical prescription, in Portugal, can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
