Alka-Seltzer 2081.8mg is indicated for heartburn, indigestion due to acidity and gastric discomfort associated with these situations.
Active substances: 2081.8 mg of sodium bicarbonate.
Bicarbonate is an alkalizing agent (antacid) administered in the form of bicarbonate-containing salts or bicarbonate-producing salts. Sodium bicarbonate and the excipient citric acid form sodium citrate in the presence of water. Sodium bicarbonate together with sodium citrate acts as a pH-dependent buffer system. By decreasing the hydrogen ion concentration, gastric acid is neutralized and the pH of the gastric fluid is increased.
Dosage and method of administration:
Dissolve two effervescent tablets in at least 100 ml of water. Adults and adolescents: 2 tablets every 4 hours as required or as prescribed by a doctor. A total of 8 tablets should not be taken in 24 hours. Adults aged 60 years and over: 2 tablets every 4 hours as required or as prescribed by a doctor. A total of 4 tablets should not be taken in 24 hours. Alka-Seltzer is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy. Read the package leaflet carefully and if you have any questions or symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
According to current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to deliveries to other Member States of the European Union.
