Gaviscon is a non-prescription medicine that is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn (burning) and indigestion, which can occur, for example, after meals, during pregnancy or in patients with symptoms related to inflammation of the esophagus (oesophagitis). It belongs to a group of medicines called "reflux suppressants", which form a protective layer over the contents of the stomach, preventing stomach acid from escaping into the esophagus where it ends up causing pain and discomfort.

Dosage and method of administration:

Adults, including the elderly and children over 12 years of age: Take 1 to 2 sachets after meals and at bedtime or as recommended (up to 4 times a day). Children under 12 years of age: Should only be taken on medical advice. Each 10 ml contains 500 mg of sodium alginate, 267 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 160 mg of calcium carbonate. Contains methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoate which may cause allergic reactions (may appear late). Orally. Read the package leaflet before using. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist after 7 days. Contains sodium and calcium. If you have been recommended a diet restricting any of these salts, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. High sodium level.

According to current legislation, medicines not subject to medical prescription, in Portugal, can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
