Nicotinell Freshmint 2mg is indicated for the relief of nicotine withdrawal symptoms in nicotine dependence as an aid to smoking cessation. Medical advice and support usually increases the success rate.

Active substances: 2mg of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

Adults and seniors. Users must stop smoking completely while taking Nicotinell Gums. The 2 mg medicated chewing gums are not recommended for smokers with strong or very strong dependence on nicotine. The appropriate dose should be selected according to the table in the package leaflet. If any adverse events occur with the use of the high-dose forms (4 mg gummies) consideration should be given to using the low-dose forms (2 mg gummies). Initial dosage should be individualized based on the patient's degree of nicotine dependence. The user should chew a piece of Nicotinell whenever they feel the need to smoke. In the case of Nicotinell Freshmint 2 mg, normally 8-12 gummies daily, up to a maximum of 25 per day. Due to the characteristics of the chewing gum pharmaceutical form, the nicotine serum levels obtained may vary from individual to individual. Therefore, the dosage must be adjusted according to individual needs, within the indicated maximum limits. Instructions for use: Each gum must be chewed until the flavor becomes intense. Then keep the chewing gum between the cheek and the gum. When the gum flavor subsides, chew again. Repeat the chewing routine for 30 minutes. The duration of treatment is individual. Normally, treatment should continue for at least 3 months. From 3 months onwards, the number of gums chewed per day should be gradually reduced, until discontinuing the use of the medicine. Treatment should be discontinued when the dose has been reduced to 1-2 gummies per day. The use of nicotine-containing medicines such as Nicotinell gums beyond 6 months is generally not recommended. Some ex-smokers may need a longer treatment with the gums to prevent a relapse. Patients who have been using oral nicotine replacement therapy for more than 9 months should seek further help and consult with their healthcare professionals. Counseling can help smokers to quit. Concomitant use of acidic beverages, such as coffee or carbonated beverages, may decrease the oral absorption of nicotine. Sour drinks should be avoided 15 minutes before chewing the gum. Nicotinell gummies should not be used by people under 18 years of age without medical advice. There is no experience in treating adolescents under 18 years of age with Nicotinell gums.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Nicotinell gums should not be used by non-smokers.
