Brufenact is a non-prescription medicine indicated for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever. It is indicated in adults and adolescents from 40 kg of body weight (12 years of age).

Dosage and method of administration:

Capsules should be taken orally with water. For oral and short-term administration. Capsules should not be chewed. Undesirable effects can be minimized by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms. Do not take more than 6 capsules (1200 mg of ibuprofen) in 24 hours.

Contraindications:

Children under 40 kg or under 12 years of age. Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or to any of the excipients. Patients who have previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions (eg, bronchospasm, asthma, rhinitis, angioedema or urticaria) associated with taking acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Patients with a history of active or recurrent peptic ulcer/bleeding (two or more distinct episodes of ulceration or proven bleeding). History of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation related to previous NSAID therapy. Patients with severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment or severe heart failure (NYHA Class IV - New York Cardiology Association). In patients with cerebrovascular or other active bleeding. In patients with unexplained disturbances in blood formation. In patients with severe dehydration (caused by vomiting, diarrhea or insufficient fluid intake). During the last trimester of pregnancy. Brufenact contains lecithin (soy). Lecithin may contain peanut protein. Patients allergic to peanuts or soy should not use this medicine.

In accordance with current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
