Sanitas Analgesic Balm Ointment 40g

Sanitas Analgesic Balm is indicated for the treatment of acute pain, such as sprains, strains and injuries caused by sports. Adjuvant in the treatment of chronic pain in the case of arthritis.

Active substances: Each gram of ointment contains 52.8 mg of Salicylic Acid, 105.6 mg of Methyl Salicylate, 0.25 mg of Capsicum frutescens oleoresin (equivalent to 0.02 mg of Capsaicin) and 13.2 mg of Menthol.

Although the precise mechanism of action of Sanitas Pain Relieving Balm is not fully understood, current evidence suggests that capsaicin exerts an analgesic effect by depleting and preventing the re-accumulation of substance P in peripheral sensory neurons. Substance P is the primary mediator of pain impulses from the periphery to the central nervous system.

Dosage and method of administration:

Adults and elderly: For topical use on intact skin. Apply a pea-sized amount of ointment to the affected area 4 times a day. Applications should be evenly spaced throughout the day, with the most frequent application being every 4 hours. The ointment should be rubbed gently into the affected area. Hands should be washed immediately after applying Sanitas Pain Relieving Balm unless the hands and fingers are being treated. Sanitas Pain Relieving Balm should not be applied near the eyes.

According to current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to deliveries to other Member States of the European Union.
