Pantelmin 100mg is indicated for the treatment of single or mixed infestations caused by: Enterobius vermicularis (enterobiasis or oxyuriasis); Trichuris trichiura (trichocephaliasis); Ascaris lumbricoides (ascariasis); Ancylostoma duodenale , Necator americanus (hookworm); Strongyloides stercoralis (strongyloidiasis).

Active substances: 20mg/ml of mebendazole.

Mebendazole acts locally in the intestinal lumen interfering with the formation of tubulin in the parasite cell. Mebendazole specifically binds to tubulin and causes ultrastructural degenerative changes in the intestine. As a result, the absorption of glucose as well as the parasite's normal digestive functions are disrupted leading to a process of autolysis.

Dosage and method of administration:

Enterobiasis: 1 tablet in a single dose, for children and adults. Since reinfestation is frequent, it is recommended to repeat the treatment after 2 to 4 weeks. Ascariasis, hookworm, trichocephaliasis and mixed infestations: 1 tablet morning and evening for 3 days, both for children and adults. Strongyloidiasis: Adults: Although favorable results have been obtained with the above dosage, a dose of 2 tablets morning and evening for 3 days is suggested to increase the cure rate. Even with high doses side effects are rare. Children: 1 tablet in the morning and in the evening for 3 days. Children and adolescents (≥2 to 16 years): Efficacy and safety data in children and adolescents aged 2 years and older to 16 years are limited. Mebendazole should only be used if there is no therapeutic alternative. Treatment does not require diet or the use of laxatives.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
