Fungur 10mg/g Cream is indicated for the treatment of fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (eg T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum. In the treatment of skin infections due to yeasts, mainly those caused by the genus Candida (eg Candida albicans). In the treatment of Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor caused by Pityrosporum orbiculare (also called Malassezia furfur).

Active Substances: 10mg terbinafine.

Terbinafine has a broad spectrum of antifungal activity against fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (eg T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum. In low concentrations Terbinafine is fungicidal against dermatophytes and filamentous fungi. The activity on yeasts is fungicidal (eg Pityrosporum orbiculare or Malassezia furfur) or fungistatic, depending on the species.

Dosage and method of administration:

For cutaneous use. Adults and children over 12 years old. Duration and frequency of treatment: Tinea corporis, tinea cruris: 1 week, once a day Tinea pedia: 1 week, once a day. Cutaneous candidiasis: 1 week, once or twice a day. Pityriasis versicolor: 2 weeks, once or twice a day. The affected area must be cleaned and dried completely before applying Fungur. The cream should be applied in a thin layer to the affected skin and surrounding area and rubbed in gently. In intertriginous infections (ie of the submammary folds, between the toes, between the buttocks and groin) the application can be covered with a gauze, especially at night, before going to bed. Improvement of clinical symptoms usually appears after a few days. Irregular use or premature discontinuation of treatment carries the risk of relapse. If there are no signs of improvement after two weeks the diagnosis should be checked.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
