Tedol 20mg/g Skin Fluid It is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of skin dermatophyte infections (tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis and tinea manus caused by Trichophyton sp., Microsporum sp. and Epidermophyton sp.). Tedol is also indicated for the treatment of cutaneous candidiasis, tinea (pityriasis) versicolor and seborrheic dermatitis (a skin condition related to the presence of Pityrosporum ovale). Due to its formulation, Tedol 20 mg/ml in the cutaneous liquid pharmaceutical form is more indicated in situations of infections in hairy or extensive areas.

Active substances: 20 mg/g ketoconazole.

The fungicidal activity of ketoconazole at high concentrations can result in a direct physicochemical effect of the drug on the cell membrane. Although the exact mechanism of action is not completely clear, the selective toxicity of ketoconazole to fungi and yeasts is related to the inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis and interference with other membrane lipids.

Posology and method of administration:

Cutaneous candidiasis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus, tinea pedis and tinea (pityriasis) versicolor: Tedol should be applied to the affected and surrounding areas once or twice a day (depending on the severity of the situation). Seborrheic dermatitis: Tedol should be applied to the affected area once or twice a day depending on the severity of the infection. In either case, the treatment should be continued for at least a few more days after all symptoms have disappeared. If after four weeks of treatment there is no clinical improvement, a reassessment of the clinical situation should be carried out. General hygiene measures are advised to control sources of infection or reinfection. Tedol, in the prophylaxis of seborrheic dermatitis, should be applied once or twice a week.
