Coaguchek XS PT PST reagent strips These are strips for determining prothrombin time (PT) on the CoaguChek INRange/CoaguChek XS device, using capillary blood.

Features:

• The strips consist of three overlapping plastic slides, creating a sample application area, a sample conduction area and an area containing the electrodes and reagents required to perform the test (namely thromboplastin, stabilizers, preservatives and additives, as well as the internal quality control reagent).
• The blood sample is applied to the strip and drawn by capillarity to the reaction zone. This zone contains electrodes for measuring the electrochemical changes caused by the cleavage of thrombin.
• Measuring principle: human recombinant thromboplastin (ISI = 1) immobilized on the strip activates the coagulation cascade and the formation of thrombin. Thrombin activity is determined electrochemically by the oxidation of a substrate present on the strip (phenylenediamine). The gold electrodes of the test strip record the potential difference, resulting in the Prothrombin Time. The measured results show an excellent correlation with the laboratory method.
