Levofemina 1.5mg 1 tablet

Levofemina 1.5mg is a non-prescription medicine indicated as emergency contraception, to be used within 72 hours following unprotected sexual intercourse or in case of contraceptive failure.

Active substances: Each tablet contains 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel.

Dosage and method of administration:

The tablet should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within the first 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours, after unprotected sexual intercourse. If vomiting occurs within three hours of taking the tablet, another tablet should be taken immediately. Women who have used enzyme-inducing drugs during the last 4 weeks and require emergency contraception are advised to use a non-hormonal EC (emergency contraceptive), i.e., a copper IUD, or to take a double dose of levonorgestrel (i.e., 2 tablets taken together) if they are unable or unwilling to use a copper IUD. Levofemina can be used at any time during the menstrual cycle unless menstrual bleeding is delayed. After using emergency contraception, it is recommended to use a local barrier contraceptive method (e.g., condom, diaphragm, spermicide, pessary) until the next menstruation. The use of Levofemina does not contraindicate the continuation of regular hormonal contraception.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.

According to current legislation, non-prescription medicines in Portugal can only be delivered to the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union.
