Ben-u-gripe 4mg + 500mg 16 capsules

Ben-u-gripe 4mg + 500mg is indicated for the treatment of colds, rhinitis, nasopharyngitis and flu-like conditions in adults and children aged 12 years and over, including runny nose and watery eyes, sneezing, headache and/or fever.

Active substances: Each capsule contains 4mg of chlorphenamine maleate and 500mg of paracetamol.

Dosage and method of administration:

Oral route. The capsules should be swallowed whole with water (or another beverage, e.g., milk or fruit juice). Nighttime dosing is preferred due to the sedative effect of chlorphenamine maleate. The usual dose is 1 capsule, up to 4 times a day, leaving an interval of at least 4 hours between doses. One capsule contains 500mg of paracetamol and 4mg of chlorphenamine maleate. For adults and children over 12 years of age, the maximum daily dose of paracetamol is 3g and that of chlorphenamine is 16mg, meaning the maximum daily dose is 4 capsules per day. In cases of severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml/min), the interval between doses should be at least 8 hours. If symptoms persist, treatment should be reassessed.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients. Hepatocellular insufficiency (due to the presence of paracetamol). Due to the presence of chlorphenamine maleate: risk of narrow-angle glaucoma; risk of urinary retention associated with urethroprostatic disorders. Due to the presence of chlorphenamine maleate, this medication should generally not be used during breastfeeding.
