Corticil Ophthalmic Ointment 3.5g

Corticil is indicated for the topical treatment of allergic and inflammatory conditions of the eyes, in case of uveitis, scleritis and in the reduction of inflammation after eye surgery. It is thus indicated in all allergic and / or inflammatory manifestations of the eye that respond to corticotherapy.

Suitable for dogs, cats and sport horses.

Active substances: Prednisolone acetate at 5 mg / g.

Prednisolone is a glucocorticoid, with steroidal anti - inflammatory action. The biological effects of the anti-inflammatory action are essentially reflected in the inhibition of vascular permeability that allows a call of the white blood cells to the inflammation site and in an inhibition of the molecular phenomena related to the activation of the white blood cells and their adhesion to the endothelial cells. Adrenocorticoids diffuse across the cell membrane, binding to specific cytoplasmic receptors, forming a complex. These complexes penetrate the nucleus of the cell, bind to DNA, stimulate the transcription of mRNA and consequently the synthesis of protein enzymes occurs, which are responsible for the anti-inflammatory effects at the eye level.

Posology and route of administration:

Apply topically to the ocular mucosa (at the internal angle) 1 to 4 times a day, until resolution of symptoms. After the symptoms are resolved, weaning should be carried out for a period of 5 to 10 days.

During the first application, it is advisable to discard the small portion of ointment in contact with the lid.

If a dose is missed, it should be applied as soon as possible.
