Chronogest CR 20mg 25 sponges

Chronogest CR is indicated for sheep and malates, in the combined use with PMSG (Serum Gonadotropin of Pregnant Mares):

- Induction and synchronization of estrus and ovulation (acyclic sheep during seasonal anestrus and malatas);

- Synchronization of estrus and ovulation (sheep and cyclic malates).

Active substances: Flugestone acetate, 20 mg.

Target species: Sheep (sheep and malatas).

Flugestone acetate is a synthetic progesterone analogue, about 20 times more potent than this hormone. It has progestagenic activity associated with low glucocorticoid activity, and has no antiprogestagenic, androgenic or antiandrogenic activity. Given its binding to progesterone receptors, flugestone acetate acts through a negative feedback mechanism on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, inhibiting the release of gonadotropins and therefore interrupting the final phase of follicular growth and ovulation.

Posology and route of administration:

The dose is one sponge per animal regardless of body weight, race, fitness (milk or meat) and season. The sponge is inserted intravaginally, using an applicator. The duration of stay of the sponge is 14 days. At the end of the stay period, the sponge is removed carefully by pulling the wire from the controlled release device. To obtain an optimal synchronization of ovulation, an injection of PMSG is administered intramuscularly at the time of removing the sponge (300-700 IU). If artificial insemination takes place at a fixed time, it is recommended to inseminate at 55 hours after removing the sponge.
