Profender Dog 30kg 24 tablets

Profender is a veterinary medicine indicated forfor dogs suffering from, or at risk for, mixed parasitic infections caused by nematodes and tapeworms of the following species:

Round worms (Nematodes)

• Toxocara canis (mature adults, immature adults, L4 and L3)
• Toxascaris leonina (mature adults, immature adults and L4)
• Ancylostoma caninum (mature adults and immature adults)
• Uncinaria stenocephala (mature adults and immature adults)
• Trichuris vulpis (mature adults, immature adults and L4)

Flatworms (Cestodes)

• Dipylidium caninum
• Taenia spp.
• Echinococcus multilocularis (mature and immature adults)
• Echinococcus granulosus (mature and immature adults)

Active substances: Profender contains emodepside 30 mg and praziquantel 150 mg.

Emodepside is a semi-synthetic compound belonging to the new chemical group of depsipeptides. It is active against nematodes (ascarids, hookworms and tricurids). In this medicine, emodepside is responsible for its effectiveness against Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala and Trichuris vulpis. It acts at the neuromuscular junction by stimulating the presynaptic receptors belonging to the family of secretin receptors, which results in the paralysis and death of the parasites.

Praziquantel is a derivative of pyrazinoisoquinoline effective against tapeworms, such as Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus multilocularis and Echinococcus granulosus. Praziquantel is rapidly adsorbed via the parasites' surface and acts mainly by altering the parasite's membrane permeability to calcium (Ca ++). This results in severe damage to the parasite's integument, contraction and paralysis, disruption of metabolism and ultimately death of the parasite.

Posology and route of administration:

Profender should be administered at a minimum dose of 1 mg emodepside / kg body weight and 5 mg praziquantel / kg body weight, according to the following table:

A single administration per treatment is effective.

Oral administration to dogs from 12 weeks of age and weighing at least 1 kg. Profender tablets are flavored with meat and are generally accepted by dogs without any food. Administer only to fasting dogs. For example: Fasting at night if the dog is treated in the morning. Food should not be given until 4 hours after treatment.
