Nelio for Dogs 20mg 100 tablets

Nelio is a prescription drug indicated for the treatment of congestive heart failure.

Active substance: Benazepril hydrochloride 20mg.

Benazepril hydrochloride is a prodrug hydrolyzed in vivo to its active metabolite, benazeprilat. Benazeprilat is a highly potent selective ACE inhibitor, thus preventing the conversion of inactive angiotensin I to active angiotensin II and thereby also reducing aldosterone synthesis. As such, it blocks the effects mediated by angiotensin II and aldosterone, including vasoconstriction of arteries and veins, sodium and water retention by the kidneys, and remodeling effects (including pathological cardiac hypertrophy and degenerative renal changes).

Dosage and route of administration:

The veterinary medicinal product should be administered orally once daily, with or without food. The duration of treatment is unlimited. The safety and efficacy of the veterinary medicinal product have not been established in dogs weighing less than 2.5 kg. The veterinary medicinal product should be administered orally at a minimum dose of 0.25 mg (range 0.25-0.5) benazepril hydrochloride/kg body weight once daily.

>20 to 40kg - 1/2 tablet.

>40 to 60kg - 3/4 tablet.

>60 to 80kg - 1 tablet.

The once daily dose may be doubled, with a minimum dose of 0.5 mg/kg (range 0.5-1.0), if considered clinically necessary and advised by the veterinarian.
