Masivet is a treatment of non-extirpable canine mast cell tumors (grade 2 or 3) with confirmed mutation of the c-KIT tyrosine kinase receptor. Masitinib is an inhibitor of protein tyrosine kinase that, in vitro, potently and selectively inhibits the mutated form of the c-Kit receptor, in the justamembrane region (JM). It also inhibits the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF) and the fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR3).
Posology and route of administration:
For oral administration. The recommended dose is 12.5 mg / kg (with a dosage range of 11–14 mg / kg), once daily, as shown in the table below.
In dogs with a body weight of less than 15 kg, accurate dosing is not always possible. These dogs can be treated with 50, 100 or 150 mg, if practicable, to achieve a target dose of 11–14 mg / kg bw. The tablets must be administered whole and should not be divided, broken or crushed. If the dog rejects a broken pill after chewing, it must be discarded. The tablets should always be administered in the same way, together with food. If the dog regurgitates or vomits the tablet within 10 minutes of administration, treatment should be repeated. If the dog regurgitates or vomits the tablet more than 10 minutes after administration, treatment should not be repeated.
