Rimadyl is a medication indicated for reducing inflammation and pain associated with chronic or acute musculoskeletal disorders in dogs. It can also be used to manage post-operative pain.
Target species: Canines (dogs).
Active substance: Carprofen.
Carprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the 2-arylpropionic acid group, with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity.
Contraindications:
Do not administer the veterinary medicinal product within 24 hours of administering other NSAIDs. Do not administer to animals with heart, liver, or kidney failure, or when there is a possibility of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding, or if there is evident blood dyscrasia or hypersensitivity to the veterinary medicinal product.
Dosage:
Oral route. Due to their palatability, chewable tablets are easily ingested by dogs. The recommended initial dose is 4 mg/kg of body weight, given once daily (equivalent to 1 tablet/12.5 5Kg.pv ), which can be divided into two equal daily doses. Depending on clinical response, the dose may be reduced after 7 days to 2 mg/kg of body weight, given once daily.
