Profender Gato Multidose Bottle 14ml

Profender is a veterinary medicine for cats suffering from, or at risk of, mixed parasitic infections caused by roundworms (nematodes) , flatworms ( stodies) and lungworms (Aelurostrongylus abstrusus).

Active substances: emodepside 21.4 mg/ml and praziquantel 85.8 mg/ml.

In this medicine, emodepside is responsible for the effectiveness against Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, and Aelurostrongylus abstrusus. 

Praziquantel is a pyrazinoisoquinoline derivative effective against tapeworms such as Dipylidium caninum, Echinococcus multilocularis, and Taenia taeniaeformis. Praziquantel is quickly adsorbed via the surface of the parasites and acts mainly by altering the permeability of the parasite's membranes to Ca++. 

Dosage and method of administration:

The minimum recommended doses are 3 mg of emodepside/kg body weight and 12 mg of praziquantel/kg body weight, equivalent to 0.14 ml of Profender /kg body weight.

Calculate the exact dose based on individual live weight, or use the following recommended dose volumes for different weight ranges: Profender for Small Cats (≥ 0.5 – 2.5 kg)-0.35 ml; Profender for Medium Cats (> 2.5 – 5 kg)-0.70 ml ; Profender for Large Cats (> 5 – 8 kg)-1.12 ml. For cats weighing > 8kg - use the appropriate combination of pipettes.

For the treatment of roundworm and flatworm infections, a single administration per treatment is effective. In the case of treating queens to prevent the lactogenic transmission of Toxocara cati (L3 larva) to the litter, a single administration per treatment, approximately 7 days before the expected date of birth, is effective. In the case of lungworm Aelurostrongylus abstrusus, two treatments are effective, administered with an interval of two weeks between them. Exclusively for external use. Hold the adapter, remove the protective cap from the piercing tip and insert the tip through the center of the bottle cap. Remove the screw cap. Take a standard 1 ml disposable syringe with luer nozzle and connect to the adapter. Then invert the bottle and remove the necessary volume. Replace the screw cap after use. Remove the hair from the cat's neck, at the base of the neck, until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the syringe on the skin and empty the contents directly onto the skin. Applying it to the base of the neck will minimize the possibility of the cat licking the product.
