Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam group, which acts by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby exerting anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-exudative and antipyretic effects. Reduces leukocyte infiltration into inflamed tissue. To a lesser extent, it also inhibits thrombocyte aggregation induced by collagen.

Posology and route of administration:

The initial treatment is a single dose of 0.2 mg meloxicam / kg body weight on the first day. Treatment should continue with oral administration once a day (at 24 hour intervals), at a maintenance dose of 0.1 mg meloxicam / kg body weight.

For prolonged treatments, once the clinical response has been observed (after ≥ 4 days), the dose of veterinary medicinal product can be adjusted to the lowest effective individual dose, taking into account that the degree of pain and inflammation associated with Chronic musculoskeletal changes may vary over time.

Particular attention should be paid to the accuracy of the dose.

Shake well before use. To be administered orally, either mixed in the food or directly into the mouth.

The suspension can be administered using the dosing syringe included in the box. The syringe adapts to the bottle and has a scale in kg of body weight that corresponds to the maintenance dose (ie 0.1mg meloxicam / kg of body weight).

The clinical response is usually seen within 3 - 4 days. Treatment should be stopped after a maximum of 10 days, if no clinical improvement is apparent.
