Nicotinell Mint 1mg is indicated in the treatment of tobacco dependence by alleviating nicotine withdrawal symptoms, including the urge to smoke, thus facilitating smoking cessation or the temporary reduction of smoking in smokers motivated to stop smoking. Permanent cessation of smoking is the ultimate goal of treatment. 2 mg lozenges should be used in the presence of severe nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Medical advice and support typically increases the success rate.

Active substances: 1mg of nicotine.

Nicotine, the main alkaloid in tobacco products and a naturally occurring autonomous substance, is a nicotine receptor agonist in the central and peripheral nervous system. Nicotine has been shown to be addictive in tobacco consumption.

Dosage and method of administration:

Nicotinell Mint 1 mg lozenges can be used alone or in combination with Nicotinell transdermal patches as indicated in the package leaflet. Adults and seniors. Nicotinell Mint 1 mg lozenges are recommended for smokers with a low to moderate nicotine dependence. It is not recommended in smokers with a strong or very strong nicotine dependence. If any adverse effects are observed with the use of high doses (2 mg lozenges), the use of low doses (1 mg lozenges) should be considered. Initial dosage should be individualized based on the degree of nicotine dependence of patients. The patient should suck a lozenge whenever he feels the need to smoke. Initially, one lozenge should be sucked every 1-2 hours. The usual dose is 8-12 lozenges a day. Both in smoking cessation and in reducing smoking with Nicotinell lozenges, the maximum daily dose is 24 lozenges. Do not use more than one tablet per hour. Nicotinell lozenges should first be used for smoking cessation. Administration method: Each lozenge must be sucked until the flavor becomes intense. The lozenge should be placed between the cheek and the gum. When the flavor of the lozenge becomes less intense, suck the lozenge again. This routine will be adapted individually and must be repeated until the lozenge has completely dissolved (about 30 minutes). Concomitant use of acidic beverages, such as coffee or carbonated beverages, may decrease oral absorption of nicotine. Acidic drinks should be avoided 15 minutes before sucking the lozenge. Do not eat or drink while the lozenge is in your mouth.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Nicotinell Mint lozenges should not be used by adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age without a medical prescription. There is no experience in the treatment of adolescents under 18 years of age with Nicotinell lozenges. Nicotinell Mint lozenges should not be used by non-smokers.
