Minox 5 50mg/ml Cutaneous Solution is indicated in the treatment of male and female pattern baldness, known as androgenetic alopecia, and in the treatment of alopecia areata, commonly known as pelada.

Active substances: 50mg/ml minoxidil.

Minoxidil is a potent peripheral vasodilator used topically to induce dilation in the scalp microcirculation. On the other hand, it seems to induce the proliferation of epithelial cells close to the base of the hair follicle. Increases the incorporation of cysteine and glycine in the follicle.

Dosage and method of administration:

Minox 5 is intended for external use only, for application to the scalp, twice a day (12/12h), on completely dry hair. The dose for each application is 1 ml of solution (corresponding to 30 drops), whatever the area to be treated, spreading the medicine from the center to the periphery with your fingers. The recommended daily dose is 2 ml and should not be exceeded as there is a risk of causing systemic effects. In case of missing a dose, continue the applications normally without doubling the dose. The treatment lasts about a year, after which the best results are observed. The use of 5% minoxidil should be discontinued if after 4 months of use there is no hair growth. To continue to improve and maintain the benefits achieved, applications should be continued twice a day after the attack phase, which can last about 6 months. Therapy can be started with Minox 5, according to criteria and clinical evaluation of alopecia. Interruption of treatment may induce a return to the initial alopecia state after 3 to 4 months.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients. Patients with arterial hypertension or cardiovascular disease, namely coronary insufficiency (possible systemic effects if significant absorption occurs). Individuals with scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, sunburn, scalp irritation or abrasion. Pregnancy and lactation. Pediatric population: Minox 5 is not indicated for use in children and individuals under 18 years of age.

If in doubt or if symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
