Nizoral 20mg/g Cream is indicated for topical application in the treatment of dermatophyte infections of the skin: tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus and tinea pedis, due to Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum, as well as in the treatment of cutaneous candidiasis and pityriasis versicolor. Nizoral cream is also indicated for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, a condition related to the presence of Pityrosporum ovale.

Active substances: 20mg/g of ketoconazole.

Ketoconazole inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis in fungi and alters the composition of other lipid membrane components.

Dosage and method of administration:

In patients with cutaneous candidiasis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus, tinea pedis and pityriasis versicolor, Nizoral cream should be applied to the affected and surrounding areas once a day. In patients with seborrheic dermatitis, Nizoral cream should be applied to the affected area, once or twice a day depending on the severity of the infection. The usual duration of treatment is: pityriasis versicolor 2 - 3 weeks; yeast infections 2 - 3 weeks; tinea cruris 2 - 4 weeks; tinea corporis 3 - 4 weeks; tinea pedis 4 - 6 weeks; seborrheic dermatitis 2 - 4 weeks. In the maintenance treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, it is advisable to apply Nizoral cream once or twice a week. Treatment should be continued for a few more days after symptoms have disappeared. If after four weeks of treatment there is no clinical improvement, the diagnosis should be reconsidered. Good hygiene practices are advised to control sources of infection or reinfection. Nizoral cream is intended for use in adults.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substance(s) or to any of the excipients.
