Synvisc One is indicated for the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to therapy.

Characteristics:

  • Sterile, non-pyrogenic and viscoelastic liquid containing hylans.
  • Hylans are derived from hyaluronan (sodium salt of hyaluronic acid) and consist of repeating units of N-acetylglucosamine and sodium glucuronate disaccharides.
  • Contraindications: Not recommended for patients with known hypersensitivity (allergy) to hyaluronan (sodium hyaluronate preparations). Not recommended for knees of patients with knee joint infections or skin diseases or infections in the injection site area.

Usage advice:

Only medical professionals trained in accepted injection techniques for administering agents into joint spaces should be injected.
