Bisoltussin Dry Cough is an antitussive medicine indicated for the symptomatic treatment of irritating and dry cough.
Active Substance: 2.0 mg Dextromethorphan hydrobromide.
Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a 3-methoxy derivative of levorphanol. It has an antitussive effect, but does not have analgesic, respiratory depressant or psychomimetic properties at therapeutic doses and is attributed to a slight additive potential.
Posology and method of administration:
For use in children over 6 years and adults. Use the measuring device included in the medicine package. Adults and young people over 12 years: 5 to 10 ml of Bisoltussin Tosse Seca (corresponding to 10-20 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide) at 4 hour intervals or 15 ml of Bisoltussin Tosse Seca (corresponding to 30 mg of hydrobromide of dextromethorphan) at 6-8 hour intervals. The maximum daily dose is 60 ml of Bisoltussin Cough Dry corresponding to 120 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide. Children from 6 to 12 years: 2.5 to 5 ml of Bisoltussin Dry Cough at 4 hour intervals. The maximum daily dose is 30 ml of Bisoltussin Cough Dry corresponding to 60 mg of dextromethorphan hydrobromide. In case of self-medication, administration should be limited to 3 to 5 days. The duration of treatment should not exceed 2-3 weeks, even with medical advice.
According to current legislation, medicines not subject to a prescription in Portugal can only be delivered in the municipalities of Maia, Gondomar, Matosinhos, Porto, Santo Tirso, Trofa, Valongo and Vila do Conde. This limitation does not apply to shipments to other Member States of the European Union..
